Ayurveda, the traditional Indian system of medicine, describes three fundamental energies, called doshas that govern our physical and mental well-being: Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. Each dosha is associated with specific characteristics:
Vata (Ether & Air):
Physical: Light, thin build; tends to be tall or short with prominent joints and veins; dry skin, hair, and lips; cold hands and feet; quick movements; variable appetite and digestion; light and interrupted sleep.
Mental: Lively, enthusiastic, creative, and imaginative; quick to learn and forget; restless, prone to worry, anxiety, and fear; talkative; enjoys change and excitement.’
Your predominant type shapes your key vulnerabilities — but it does not limit you to them. Someone who is predominantly Vata, for instance, can still experience an issue that is related to a Pitta imbalance.
Here are links to more details of some vulnerabilities that you may have, which usually stem from the root cause of insulin resistance.
