About John
My journey from Electrical & Electronic Engineer and production director to a holistic health coach has been a fascinating and logical progression, all driven by a passion for cooking and well-being.
The Foundation: Ayurveda, the Science of Life
My exploration into health began about 35 years ago when I discovered Ayurveda—the “science of life” (Ayur means life, Veda means science). This sister discipline of Yoga offers a profound understanding of ourselves and the universe through three energy principles, known as
Doshas:
Vata (Movement): Typically thin build, high metabolism.
Pitta (Transformation): Medium build, driven, and competitive.
Kapha (Stability): Larger build, patient, and possesses great stamina.
These Doshas are uniquely blended in every individual, influencing us mentally, physically, and emotionally. The same qualities exist in everything in the natural world, even the seasons. The goal of Ayurvedic practice is to identify the predominant Dosha and bring it into balance.
This knowledge inspired me to form a company, Ananda SuperFoods (Ananda means joy or bliss), to design and sell Ayurvedic SuperFood powders and snack foods, each with versions tailored to balance Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. The company is currently inactive, because it was just when it had 2 products for the three mind-body types, superfood powders and nutritional bars, when COVID stopped production and closed the crowd funding I was in the process of seeking. But the mission to create healthy, nutritious food lives on. I was able to develop and prove 6 more snack foods, including protein cookies, flapjacks, nut & seeds spreads and chocolate bars all with a little of the appropriate superfood powder in, before closing the company due to COVID. I also completed a diploma in franchising with the aim of eventually selling regional franchises for at starting with California.

I then wrote an Ayurvedic cookbook, Health and Vitality Through Taste, (available on Amazon.co.uk), with three organic spice mixes for use in any dishes using my recipes made by a leading retailer called Baldwins.
The book explains the importance of including all six tastes in your daily diet to ensure the mind and body feel fully satisfied, preventing the urge to overeat. Then I created online health programs, allied to the book, one on weight loss and one to lower blood pressure, using a custom-built website.
The Evolution: Gut Health and Disease Remission
My focus evolved and changed in 2023 to support a relative who had chronic anxiety. This led me to the ancient wisdom of Hippocrates, who stated that “all disease begins in the gut,” a statement that is powerfully affirmed by modern research. Today, we understand the source of most chronic illness lies in two key factors: gut bacteria imbalance (dysbiosis) and intestinal permeability (often called “leaky gut”).
Addressing this foundational issue is the focus of the life-changing work initiated by Dr. Natasha Campbell-McBride over two decades ago through the GAPS (Gut and Psychology Syndrome) program. Her protocol centres on restoring the gut’s fundamental strength and integrity. This repair work is fuelled by specific healing foods; crucially, the gut wall requires collagen, which is abundantly provided by meat and fish broths. These broths deliver the essential amino acids needed to seal and restore the gut lining.
I have personally applied the GAPS method with powerful results, achieving remission from my own pre-diabetes and supporting my relative in reducing her OCD and anxiety, who is likewise experiencing excellent improvements.
My Approach: Logic, Science, and Stress Reduction
I specialise in creating logical, science-backed programs that help people take control of their health. Because changing deep-seated dietary habits is difficult, my approach is multi-faceted:
I include Transcendental Meditation (TM) in my recommendations. TM is a simple, natural, and effortless mental technique that is one of the most scientifically proven methods for reducing stress and increasing health and creativity, supported by over 600 research studies conducted globally. Research has even shown that TM can help improve the gut microbiome.
This work culminates in my core solution, “The Five Habits of Radiantly Healthy People“:
Gut Health using the GAPS method
Ayurvedic diet tailored for your unique mind-body type.
Fasting boosts metabolism, improves insulin sensitivity, increases autophagy, and promotes fat loss and brain health.
Organic Food for clean nutrition and a healthy microbial environment.
Transcendental Meditation (learned from a qualified teacher) for deep rest and stress reduction.
These four habits form the basis of my two coaching programs:
The Integrative Remission Program: A comprehensive plan for gut health, disease remission, and Ayurvedic balance.
The Radiant Health Program: Focuses on organic food with education about the vital value of symbiotic soil bacteria, that create nutrient rich foods without toxis pesticide and herbicide residues and the stress-relieving power of
Transcendental Meditation
I am dedicated to training and coaching others to use these proven principles to achieve lasting health and vitality.
