Remedial Intermittent Fasting

Intermittent fasting (IF) is an eating pattern that cycles between periods of eating and fasting. It has shown significant benefits for weight loss, improving insulin resistance, and potentially leading to Type 2 diabetes remission.

In this program fasting includes no added sugar in any form & no fruit.

Weight Loss:
IF promotes weight loss by reducing overall calorie intake without requiring conscious calorie counting. It can also boost your metabolism by increasing norepinephrine, a hormone that helps break down fat. Studies have shown that IF can lead to a 3-8% reduction in body weight over 3-24 weeks.

Insulin Resistance & Type 2 Diabetes Remission:
One of the most powerful benefits of IF is its effect on insulin sensitivity. By extending the fasting period, IF lowers insulin levels, allowing the body’s cells to become more responsive to the hormone. This can help reverse insulin resistance, a key driver of Type 2 diabetes. Lowering blood sugar and insulin levels can, in some cases, lead to the remission of Type 2 diabetes, allowing individuals to reduce or eliminate the need for medication.

Types of Intermittent Fasting

There are many different methods and you will find that different people sometimes want to aim for, say 18/6 but want to start with a longer time window to eat in.

18/6 Method: You fast for 18 hours and have an eating window of 6 hours.
14/10 Method: A less restrictive version where you fast for 14 hours and eat during a 10-hour window.
5:2 Diet: You eat normally for five days of the week. Non-consecutive fasting days: You could also do 4:3 and this could be 1 day fasting then 2 days normal eating then 2 days fasting, then 2 days normal eating.

This is a general overview, and it is important to note that anyone with a pre-existing health condition, especially diabetes, should consult with your doctor before starting an intermittent fasting plan.
